Choosing a wreath should feel delightful—not like a guessing game. Yet one question comes up again and again: What size wreath will look right on my front door?
A wreath can be beautifully made and still feel too quiet or too crowded if its proportions do not suit the door. That is why we created the Keepsake Bloom Wreath Size Calculator, a complimentary design tool that helps you find a considered fit before you choose your wreath.
See the proportion before you buy
Enter the width and height of your door, then choose the presence you prefer: subtle, balanced, or statement-making. The calculator recommends the nearest common wreath size and creates a visual preview showing how that diameter will sit on your door.
You can also download the preview image to keep on your phone, compare with your entryway, or share with someone whose eye you trust. The image is created privately in your browser; your measurements are not uploaded.
What size wreath fits a standard front door?
Most single front doors in the United States are approximately 36 inches wide and 80 inches tall. On a door of this size, a 24-inch wreath offers a timeless, balanced look, filling roughly two-thirds of the door width.
- 18–20 inches: a restrained accent with more negative space around the wreath
- 22–24 inches: a classic, balanced proportion for many standard doors
- 26–30 inches: a fuller, more expressive statement
These dimensions describe the finished width from the outermost leaves or stems—not simply the inner wreath base. A full eucalyptus wreath may therefore feel more generous than a tightly clipped design with the same listed frame size.
How to measure your door for a wreath
- Measure the visible width of the door itself, excluding the surrounding trim.
- Measure the visible height from the top edge to the threshold.
- Note the location of your knocker, peephole, handle, glass panels, and mail slot.
- If you have a storm or screen door, confirm the available depth before ordering.
For a balanced look, begin with a wreath measuring approximately 60 to 70 percent of the door width. For example, 24 inches divided by a 36-inch door equals about 67 percent—one reason the 24-inch wreath is such an enduring choice.
Subtle, balanced, or statement?
There is no single correct proportion. Architecture and personal taste matter just as much as the tape measure.
A subtle wreath leaves generous space around the design and works beautifully on detailed doors. A balanced wreath creates a familiar, composed focal point. A statement wreath brings greater presence to a simple door or broad entryway.
Our calculator lets you move between all three, so you can see which expression feels most at home.
Designed to make choosing easier
The front door is one of the first gestures of welcome a home makes. The right wreath adds warmth, texture, and seasonal character without overwhelming the architecture around it.
