When a door needs 26 inches

A double front door, a wide single door on an older house, or an entry set well back from the street where the wreath is first seen from the pavement rather than from the step. On a standard 36-inch door a 26-inch piece is close to three-quarters of the width, which reads as generous rather than as a mistake — but it is a statement, not the default.

Or a mantel, a barn door, a garage

The other places this size earns its keep: above a fireplace where a smaller wreath would leave the mantel looking bare, on a sliding barn door, on a garage door at the holidays, or on a wall that needs a single large piece rather than a grouping of small ones.

Weight and hanging

The extra foliage and, on pre-lit designs, the battery pack, make these the heaviest pieces in the catalogue. An ordinary over-door hook may not hold them cleanly, so use a hook rated for the weight or fix into the door itself, and check the hang before you leave it up for a season.
